Not user friendly
My wife bought this waterproof MP3 player for me for my birthday in preparation for our holiday. I found it quite easy to programme directly from my iTunes library, but for some reason it would play about 2 or 3 songs then stop with the message "unknown format" in the display. It would then take about 10 minutes of trying all the menus to get it to play again.
I found the small LCD screen totally invisible in sunlight and the menus were very difficult to navigate (I have been RAF aircrew for 25 years and I am used to navigating complex system menus!). In the end, I found the only way was to press a random selection of the touch-sensitive buttons until I heard some music!
Having used it 3 or 4 times in the local swimming pool, I found that the waterproof earpieces were uncomfortable and, if I tried to move them to make them comfortable while swimming, they would let in water and that would be the last time I could hear the music for that session!
When we went on holiday, it worked for 2 days and then the battery went flat. When I tried to recharge it, the computer displayed the message that it was unknown hardware and would not recognise it. It would not recharge, so I put it away to try at home on my return. My home computer will also not recharge or recognise it (although this was the one that loaded it in the first place) so I assume that there has been a malfunction. I will be returning it to the manufacturer.
Ironically, having found this product very difficult to use, I also bought a different waterproof MP3 (made by a different manufacturer) from Amazon for my wife. However, hers also suffered the same fate after 2 days of use. In short, this is a good idea but I feel that the technology is not yet sufficiently advanced to make this a user friendly and reliable product. I may try again in a couple of years time!
Good product
Good points:
-waterproof (there aren't many around)
-so far it's been delivering what's said on the box (been using it while swimming for the past 3 weeks)
-good sound quality
Bad points;
- extremely compliated and difficult to navigate / user manual USELESS!!! I still get frustrated trying to switch from one thing to another or figure out how to increase volume
-headphones are a pain to wear
-radio doesn't work in the pool/ otherwise it's a poor quality
OVERALL it's not perfect but a good product. I decided to keep it.
Waterproof MP3
I have had the MP3 player for several weeks now, and am very pleased with the quality of the sound, both in and out of the water. It's good to have the shuffle feature whilst swimming. My only negative is that it's not easy to change track or volume whilst swimming - however, I usually set this up beforehand and then don't need to make any changes.
Good product, fast delivey, good price
Am very happy with this product-very good value. Water gets into the headphones every now and again, but for breast stroke its great, even fully submerged.
Brilliant but only for swimming
I got this for xmas last year and have used it nearly everyday since, I swim 1km it takes me about 30 mins, I put my mp3 player on shuffle and away i go, the headphones neede abit getting used to and I only downloaded tracks that would be good fast beats to swim to, it drowns out all the echoey pool sounds and sounds even better under water, I do see the points of other peoples reviews, but if you stick to music you like on shuffle you don't need to be faffing around with changing tracks etc, I think it good!
