Stars: 1Bad luck .........perhaps

I was initially pleased with the walkman as the set up was straight forward and the player easy to use. Unfortunately, having used it for two hours, I connected it to the USB connector of my computer, but the player was not detected and the battery was not even charging. I tried to reset it without success. I checked that my USB connector was working with other devices and that was the case, so I had no other options but to return the player.

Stars: 5Great mp3

The red looks lovely, it really suits the mp3 style. I think the sound levels are good, despite the comments left by other reviewers. What really stands out, however, is how fast the battery can be recharged! The only down side of this product that I can think of is how the screen doesn't light up when the song changes, I understand that this helps in conserving the battery, but I would have liked this.

Regarding the comments about the "ZAP" feature, it is useful if you're not acquainted with all the song titles on your mp3.

Stars: 5An excellent basic mp3 player

I bought this player to take to India with me on holiday, as I did not want to risk losing or damaging my Creative Zen 32gb player. All I was looking for was a small player with good sound quality that was easy to use. Oh, and it had to have a random/ shuffle function, because I really love that for listening to a wide variety of music. This fits the bill perfectly. All you have to do is take the cap off the end to reveal the USB plug, through which the player charges and has data transferred to it. Transferring files is as easy as drop and drag, though you can use a special program if you want. The size is large enough for plenty of music, especially if like me you are only using it as a back up player.

A major plus for this player is the supremely quick charging time. This is especially useful if you are travelling and don't have much time to charge it up. I found the battery life to be very good too. As well as plugging the player into a computer to charge, it is very easy to get plugs that fit into wall sockets that are inexpensive and not very bulky.

The only thing I didn't really get is the "Zappin" function. It plays a short clip of all the songs on the player. This function doesn't seem particularly useful to me, but it's pretty inoffensive.

Stars: 5Still wonderful after months of use

I bought this last July and it's been in constant use since. I haven't treated it well, it's been shoved hastily in tight pockets, dropped, squashed under things and generally given a lot of day to day running around. I also fiddle with the usb cover pulling it on and off if I'm bored, so that's had a lot of extra use too. The usb cover has never come off accidentally and everything is still working as well as the day I bought it, except the headphones which after months of misuse I had to replace a couple of weeks ago when the connection to one earpiece became erratic.

The functions are simple and easy to get the hang of and everything I've tried works, including recording outside sound on its voice record function.

A couple of points - I've never tried the random shuffle, but I put things in in folders, meaning I can easily go to whatever I feel like listening to.

The drag and drop works like a dream, but unlike what it looks like on the drag and drop screen it will always put the last thing added at the end of the folder, the only way to change this is to delete the folder off the device and put the stuff on again in the order you've edited from the computer.

Just occasionally after particularly rough handling the screen goes blank and none of the buttons work. Let the charge run down naturally and when it's completely dead replug the usb back in and it'll work normally again. The reset function doesn't work nearly as well - I killed my first one trying to make it before I replaced it with this one last July. Bonus I bought it in red this time, much prettier.

The battery still charges very well, and the three minute quick recharge doesn't seem to have negatively affected that at all. the quicky charge is brilliant for when there's no time to charge it 'properly' and lasts at least as long as advertised, not that I stand there with a stopwatch when it's connected to the usb port so it might be two or five minutes depending.

I'm about to buy another just because I want more memory and I like this model so much I'd rather have two than a different MP3, it's not as if they take up a lot of room.

Stars: 5Sony MP3 Walkman

I gave my daughter and her husband one of these each as a fun Christmas gift. They were the hit of the day! They have been used pretty much non-stop since, and are particularly popular in the car on long journeys.
